Our students are introduced to more depth within the subject areas, as well as after school activities that enhance their development steadily forward. Students’ leadership skills are nurtured through the many opportunities available to them. Students apply their acquired skills through academic means and through competition.
Students learn the basic concepts and values of Islam and their applications in everyday life. They also memorize chapters of the Qur’an (Ayah), sayings of the Prophet (Hadith), and supplications in Arabic (Duaa), along with their meanings.
Students are taught to read, write, understand and converse in Arabic. These skills are reinforced through the use of Arabic literature.
The Reading program includes instructional depth, comprehension strategies, and vocabulary skills. Third through fifth grades incorporate novels in the program to further develop and apply reading skills and enrich learning. Language Arts includes instruction in grammar, spelling, handwriting, and writing techniques. Students apply their strategies and skills through literature discussions, and different types of written pieces such as narrative, expository, descriptive, and creative.
Crtitical thinking skills are emphasized through computation and word-problem solving. Students receive instruction in Algebraic concepts such as fractions, multi-step addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as Geometrical concepts, which include number lines, shapes, angles and measurements.
Social Studies encompasses such topics as communities, U.S. government, citizenship, Native Americans, exploration, U.S. geography, and map skills.
Science encompasses a variety of topics in the areas of life science, earth science, physical science, and environmental science.
Students have two periods a week of formal instruction in physical education. In addition, students have recess/play everyday of the week.
